Note: players are listed in random order, not ranked.
1. Brian Kleiber:
Analysis: Kleiber opened up the draft strong, taking the two Sarahs in the first two rounds, but things pretty much went downhill from there.Ý I mean, Mudrick and Megan are bad enough by themselves- why would you want BOTH of them on your team?!
2. Justin Cox:
Analysis: He may not have realized it at the time, but Cox has an alarmingly high concentration of newlyweds or soon-to-be-newlyweds on his team who may have more important things to do than study during the coming year.Ý His team may suffer as a result.
3. Chris Ketcherside:
Analysis: Ketchersideís draft was
strengthened in the late rounds when he picked up Pogemiller,
who had been passed over by all of the other owners simply on grounds that he was a Cubs fan.Ý On
a related note, Iím surprised ANYONE drafted KU-grad and professed
4. John Medley:
Analysis: Medley has managed to put together a team that might be considered a sort of All-Jock team (with the exception of Balas, of course).Ý This is fantasy rotations, not fantasy baseball, Medley.
5. Chris Brodeur:
Analysis: Brodeurís draft looks very strong, and he has obviously put hundreds of hours into his draft preparation.Ý Donít be fooled, however, by how good this draft looks on paper.Ý While several of these students have been pillars of intelligence over the past two years, Iím going out on a limb and predicting that they collapse under the stress and pressure of clinicals next year.Ý All you have to do is think about the fact that Brodeur himself will be forced to get up well before noon on a daily basis next year, and you will realize that his team is doomed.
6. Chris Hempel:
Analysis: Take a close look at Hempelís team.Ý Notice anything strange?Ý Yep, thatís right- itís Hempel and 9 girls.Ý This isnít THAT kind of fantasy league, Hempel.
7. Nate Ratchford:
Analysis: Apparently Ratchford did not do his drafting homework.Ý With such a large pool of talent to choose from it would have been pretty hard to have such an utterly horrible draft.Ý While several of his picks were very strong selections, he managed to draft two people who donít even go to school here anymore.Ý I think heís pretty much signed the lease for the cellar of this league already.
8. Adam Fedyk:
Analysis: Transparent as usual, Fedykís strategy obviously included putting a premium on the wisdom that can only be gained with age.Ý However, he managed to make the best of a last-place draft.Ý The only questionable move here was taking the highly-overrated Patton with his first-round pick.
Undrafted/Free Agents:
Analysis: Is anyone really surprised that these duds got passed over for the more quality choices that were available?Ý Whatís even sadder is the fact that Ratchford will be signing a few of these pathetic souls as free agents once he realizes how many holes he has in his team.
Note: MD/PhDís Brent Pfeiffer and Amanda Cully were ineligible for the draft, since they will not be participating in rotations next year.
